Francis L. Boyle Jr.

Francis L. Boyle Jr. died Aug. 23, 2022, in Trumbull, Connecticut. He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Montpelier, Vermont. After completing high school in Nashua, New Hampshire, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in July 1943 and served as a B-17 bomber ball turret gunner during World War II. Between July 1944-December 1944, he survived 35 bombing missions over Germany and France. After the war ended, Frank attended Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan, between 1946-1950, taking advantage of the G.I. Bill. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and journalism and met his first wife, Barbara Jean Burgess, who he married in August 1952.

Frank embarked on a lengthy career in the radio industry, starting as salesperson in 1953 for Detroit’s WJR-AM station. In 1958, he joined Eastman Radio Inc., a radio representation firm, as Detroit Office Manager, then was promoted to New York office manager in 1960. Progressing up the executive ladder, he assumed the positions of CEO and chairman of the board in 1976. During the same period, Frank met his second wife, Beverly Frances Parody, and re-married in 1978. In 1985, he left Eastman Radio to found Frank Boyle & Co., a media brokerage company. He was elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Media Brokers in 1987, inducted in the Hall Fame of Broadcasting in 2006 and awarded the Giants of Broadcasting honor in 2021, concluding his career in the industry he loved.

Frank is survived by his wife, Beverly, as well as by his three children, Michelle, Judith and James Boyle. Additionally, he also is survived by his younger siblings, Virginia Fernald, and William Boyle, and his five granddaughters, Nicole, Amanda, Rachel, Jillian, and Kathryn.
