Louise M. Bergeron

Sep 3, 2022

Louise M. Bergeron, of Litchfield, New Hampshire, died peacefully in her sleep at home, on Aug. 28, 2022.

Louise, an only child, was born with a sunny disposition in a 1670 cape along the Merrimack River in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on Oct. 28, 1928, to parents Louis and Gertrude Bergeron.

She met her future husband, Roland Bergeron (no relation!), on a double date in 1949. Louise graduated from Nashua Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1950. She married Roland that same year, and they rented an apartment on Ash Street in Nashua. In 1954, after a five-month search, Louise found her dream home: A house and barn built in 1840 with 25 acres in Litchfield, heated with a kitchen wood cook stove and coal furnace in the dirt-floor basement. It is where she lived and loved for the rest of her life.

Louise was a registered nurse at Nashua Memorial Hospital for 50 years, full-time until she had children, then worked nights so she could be home in the day with her rambunctious children. She was honored at the hospital as one of the oldest nurses to retire in early 1990s.

Her passion was love for her children, grandchildren and friends. Even into her 90s, she still had friends more than half her age. Her talents included miniature watercolor paintings of ocean scenes from Rye, New Hampshire, where she spent summer weekends at her cottage for more than 60 years. She also cooked a tasty American chop suey dish with fresh Italian bread and chocolate pudding. Her love also included dogs, 11 she owned over her lifetime. Her heart was broken every time she lost one of them. There was always a new day and room in her heart for another.

She leaves behind her spunky new friend, 7-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Patrick; her children, Michael Bergeron and his wife Jessica Bergeron from Litchfield, Jane Bergeron-Beaulieu and her husband John Beaulieu, and their black lab Otis, from Litchfield, Tim Bergeron and his wife Ellen Bergeron, and Lacey, a golden retriever from Rye; grandchildren Meaghan Bergeron from Portsmouth, Emily Bergeron from Boston, and Ryan Bergeron from Los Angeles, and Luke Bergeron, Tim Bergeron and Grace Bergeron from Litchfield.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 4-6 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A private graveside service will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Litchfield. To send a condolence, please visit, www.peabodyfuneralhome.com.
