Darlene A. McWhirter

Aug 10, 2022

Darlene Ann McWhirter, on Aug. 6, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with endometrial cancer, peacefully passed to the Lord and the loving arms of her mother, surrounded by her family.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Bob, of 35 years; her son, Jason (Jennifer) McWhirter of West Barnstable, Massachusetts, and their daughter, Julia; her daughter, Kristen (Bradfield) Page of Merrimack, New Hampshire, and their daughters, Winslee and Adalena; her sister, Sharon (David) Hickey of Merrimack: her brother, Eric DeNauw of Manchester, New Hampshire; her brother, Stephen (Sharon) DeNauw of Franklin, New Hampshire; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Jocelyn DeNauw.

Darlene was born in Manchester, raised in Merrimack and raised her family in Nashua, prior to moving to Melvin Village, New Hampshire, some 16 years ago. She worked as a bookkeeper, a telesales and administrative assistant at Digital Equipment Corporation, ran several companies with her husband and loved her jobs helping residents and friends at several local municipalities as an administrative assistant and town administrator.

She had a passion for life and helping others. She loved to sew and quilt, especially for her beloved children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and her book clubs, and adjusted well to reading on the tablet. She enjoyed making puzzles and always made sure one was out for everyone to help. She adored cooking and hosting holidays with family and friends.

Darlene so appreciated the loving care of Dr. Henry Sonneborn and the teams at Wentworth Douglas and Mass General Hospital provided to her over the last few years. She especially appreciated the care she received from the nurses, licensed nursing assistants and support staff at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire.

There are no calling hours, a private celebration of life will be planned in the future for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Seacoast Cancer Center, in Darlene’s memory.

Purdy Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.purdyfuneralservice.com.
