Albert ‘Joe’ Conaty

Albert “Joe” Conaty, 81, of Hudson, New Hampshire, peacefully passed away on July 26, 2022, at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, New Hampshire, after a period of declining health.

Albert was born on Aug. 24, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, and was raised in Litchfield, New Hampshire, by his mother, Doris (Haskins) Goffe and stepfather Fredrick Goffe. After graduating from Alvirne High School in 1958, he joined the U.S. Navy and gained skills as an electronics technician while serving aboard the USS Forrest Royal DD-872 and USS Wadleigh DD-689. After leaving the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Jane (Steele) in October 1962.

Albert received degrees with honors in electronics and business management from Northeastern University, and worked for several prominent electronics firms in the area, including Sanders Associates, Centronics, Data Terminal Systems, Raytheon, and Gould PCD.

Joe enjoyed sharing meals and playing cards with friends and family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He happily served as a Scout leader when each of his sons were Boy Scouts. He also was a member of the American Legion. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity and words of wisdom.

Albert was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Gary Conaty in February 2021. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Jane; his son, James and fiancée Yelonda Evans; son, Leonard and wife Cynthia; granddaughter, Erica and husband Stephen Caron; grandson, David and wife Clarice; and four great-grandchildren, Jace and Adeline Caron, and Emma and Arianna Conaty. He also is survived by his sister, Linda Sperberg and husband David; and his sister, Jamie Gagnon and partner Eric Lindahl. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery in Litchfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to any charity of choice.
