NASHUA – Barbara Anne Millina, 77, lifelong resident of Nashua and Hudson, New Hampshire, passed away on July 17, 2022, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a brief period of declining health.
Barbara was born on April 16, 1945, in Nashua, daughter of the late Bennie Millina and Phyllis (Polak) Millina. She was an active scholar in Nashua schools, graduating 10th in her class in 1963 from Nashua High School. Barbara was from a Polish-Lithuanian family, and was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Parish on Franklin Street in Nashua in her youth.
She was a long-time employee of BAE Systems, retiring after 45 years. In her tenure there in administration and payroll, Barbara had witnessed the transition of that company from Sanders Associates to Lockheed-Martin and finally BAE Systems. She had worked at the Canal Street location, as well as South Nashua and Hudson.
Barbara was a bibliophile who loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She was a daily subscriber of The Telegraph, Boston Globe, Union Leader and New York Times. By breakfast, she could tell you any headline story, by lunch she knew most local stories and for dinner, she had the daily crossword puzzles finished. Movies and records also were a great hobby of hers. Barbara had an extensive collection of vinyl records and films she was proud of. She also was very fond of Benson’s Wild Animal Farm in Hudson, where she would visit with her family until its closure in 1987.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas, in 1947, and sister, Bonnie, in 1987. Surviving family include her sister, Dorothy Rasmussen of Milford; sister, Roberta Demanche of Manchester; nephews, Andrew Demanche of Manchester, and Benjamin Millina of Amherst; niece, Stephanie Lofton and her husband, Lonnie, of Nashua; and several great-nephews and great-nieces including Jedrick, Bryella, Kenna, and Janessa Lofton; Nathaniel and Hunter Millina; and several other close friends and family.
