Lynda Leslie Sovik (née Linda Corthell)

Jun 18, 2022

Lynda Leslie Sovik (née Linda Corthell), age 73, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Lynda was born in East Derry, New Hampshire. She attended Nashua High School, and graduated from Barnstable High School in Massachusetts in 1966. After high school, Lynda studied art at Tufts University, but her independent and adventurous spirit drew her to New York City, where she worked in film production and editing. She married and moved to Ohio in the 1970s, where she remained until her death. In Ohio, Lynda raised her daughters and retired as a Transportation Security Administration officer in 2011.

Lynda is remembered by those who knew her as funny, lively and a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. Lynda loved animals, and adopted dogs and cats throughout her life, treating them as siblings to her human children. Lynda enjoyed expressing her creativity through arts and crafting. Rarely could one find an envelope or paper in her home that did not have a sketch or drawing. She also enjoyed travel and loved the beach and cruising. Most importantly, Lynda was devoted to her two adopted daughters, Melissa and Tiffany. She was selfless, loved unconditionally and is the strongest person they will ever know.

She was predeceased by her beloved mother and stepfather, Charlotte and Robert Coleron; her father, Otis Corthell, and the father of her children and former spouse, Ronald Sovik.

Lynda is survived by her daughters, Melissa Sovik of North Canton, Ohio, and Tiffany (Gregory Kimbrough Jr.) Sovik of Akron, Ohio; her sisters, Susan (Richard) Bucknam of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Cynthia (Ken) Magill of Venice, Florida; her aunt and best friend, Judith (the late John) Roquet of Nashua, New Hampshire; and dearest and oldest friend, Bonnie Feeney of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

A private service will be held in New Hampshire.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Lynda’s name to an animal shelter/rescue of your choice.
