Antonietta (D’Alfonso) Hagen

Antonietta (D’Alfonso) Hagen, 79 of Merrimack, NH, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH.

Antonietta was born and raised in Asmara, Eritrea, East Africa to the late Francesco and Elsa (Rapone) D’Alfonso. She received her education in Asmara, where she completed high school, a two year course in Home Economics at College S. Anna Asmara. She also earned an English Proficiency Certificate from the University of Cambridge U.K.

Antonietta met Bob while he was serving in the US Navy in Asmara, East Africa. Later they were married in 1962. Antonietta and Bob returned to the United States, lived in Hamden, CT for a short period of time before moving to Nashua, NH in 1978 on Briar Cliff Drive. They became members of St. Joseph’s the Worker Parish.

She became an Eucharistic Minister. Antonietta has been involved in volunteer work for the parish and the community in other various roles; Outreach Program visiting parishioners and bringing Holy Communion to Shut-Ins, RCIA Program, Parish Council, Sacristan, Adoration Coordinator and Volunteer, Rosary Devotion Coordinator at Nashua Crossings, Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser Volunteer, and Thalassemia Foundation Fundraiser. She was also a member of the Bedford Italian Cultural Society.

In 2020 she became a resident of Merrimack, NH. and became a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua, NH.

Antonietta was a homemaker, prayer warrior, and an amazing cook. Antonietta loved to travel with her husband Bob. Some of their favorite destinations were Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, Prague, Budapest and Vienna. She taught conversational Italian, enjoyed gardening, visiting the beach, shopping, playing Mahjong and Baracco with her family and close friends.

Antonietta would always welcome anyone who entered her home with smiles, love and Italian goodies. Most of all she loved to be with her family who meant the world to her, especially her two grandchildren.

Antonietta is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert Hagen of Merrimack, NH. Children: Massimo Hagen and his Life Partner Tina Hagen of Londonderry, NH, Monica and her husband John Gesualdo of Milford, NH and two Grandchildren, Cameron and Brianna Leo.

In addition to her to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Eutilia Verdese and husband Mario.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Monday, May 16, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 17th at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Parish, 216 East Dunstable Rd, Nashua, NH. Burial will follow in New St. Louis Cemetery, 752 West Hollis St, Nashua, NH.
