James R. Nendza

James R. Nendza, 70, of Nashua, NH passed away on March 3rd, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born in Syracuse, NY on October 20, 1951, to the late Walter J. Nendza, Sr. and Anne (Marko) Nendza. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Walter J. Nendza, Jr. of Syracuse, NY.

Jim graduated from Solvay High School, near his family’s home in Lakeland, a suburb of Syracuse. He earned a B.A. in classical studies from Colgate University, and an M.A. in classical studies as well as a Ph.D. in political science from Boston College. Over several years he taught at Boston College, Merrimack College, SUNY Oswego and Belmont Abbey College.

Jim then decided to pursue a degree in law at Yale University. He graduated with a J.D. in 1990 and began his 29 year career at the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston, MA.

In his retirement he was able to spend more time reading Greek and Latin classics. He belonged to multiple reading groups with his wife and dear friends. He also enjoyed playing in a men’s softball league.

Jim is survived by his wife, Amy Bonnette Nendza, to whom he was married for 31 years; his sister-in-law, Shirley Nendza, of Syracuse, NY; his father-in-law, Alvin R. Bonnette; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Kurt Putnam, Stephen and Joan Bonnette, Peter and Lisa Bonnette, Wendy and Richard Dohanian, Michael and Lori Bonnette, Laurie and Paul Williams, as well as twelve nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10th in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 29 Spring Street in Nashua, NH. All may meet at church.
