Dennis Mikell Sylvester

Feb 2, 2022

Dennis Mikell Sylvester, 74, of Hollis, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 30, 2022 after a heroic battle with cancer. Born on March 21, 1947, in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Louis and Rosabelle Sylvester (Mikell).

Dennis grew up in Providence and graduated from Pawtucket West High School and then went on to Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA. In his youth, he and his mother would travel to Florida to spend time with his large extended family there and he would help on the family farm. His time with his Floridan family became some of his fondest memories and he often shared stories of working on the family farm. The remaining part of the year he and his family lived in Rhode Island with his large Italian extended family. Though he was an only child he considered his cousins to be his brothers and loved them dearly.

Dennis was a skilled contract-manufacturing salesman of 45 years who valued honesty and integrity and built lasting partnerships with his customers. Especially important to him was his relationship with Sparton Technology in Hudson, NH who he partnered with for over 25 years. He was a simple man who obeyed the two great commandments of love thy God and love thy neighbor. He was an avid golfer, a lover of tractors, nice cars, green grass, Dean Martin and of course, John Wayne movies. Dennis was a proud veteran of the US Army and life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.

Above all this however, Dennis was most proud of his 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Lorraine Sylvester; sons Stephen Silvestro and his wife Kaddiz, Michael Sylvester; daughter Jennifer Meyer and her husband Jerome; grandchildren Giovanni Silvestro, Sophia Silvestro, Anthony Silvestro, Devin Sylvester, Henri Meyer, and Anelise Meyer; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends he considered family.

A Mass of Remembrance will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church located at 708 Milford Rd, Merrimack, NH followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dennis’ honor to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The Moore Center of Manchester NH. Both which were organizations dear to his heart.
