Panagiotes ‘Peter’ Markos Petrakis
Panagiotes “Peter” Markos Petrakis, 43, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He is the beloved husband of Kelly (Deegan) Petrakis with whom he shared sixteen years, including nine years of marriage in March.
Peter was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 16, 1978 and is the son of Markos Nikolas and Maria (Braoudakis) Petrakis of Springfield, MA. Peter attended UMass Amherst and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
After ten years of working as a software engineer, Peter was proud to start his own business, Krillia LLC in 2018. In 2020, he used his technical skills to help Kelly start and grow her business and they loved being able to work together every day.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors whenever he could. His favorite activity was hiking, especially the mountains in New Hampshire and in Mine Falls Park, where he proposed to Kelly. Peter also loved to tinker, working with his tools on different projects, and fixing things around his home. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Kelly, his parents Markos and Maria, he is survived by his two brothers, Nikolas Petrakis and his wife Sussanne of Lawrence, MA and George Petrakis and his wife Katie of Longmeadow, MA; as well as his six nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Sara, Markos, Marie “Mazie” (his goddaughter), Georgia, and Rose, and his cousins Besi, Maria, Emmanuel & Jennifer Tsitsirides, and many relatives in Greece, primarily Crete.
Relatives and friends are invited to Peter’s visitation on SATURDAY, February 5th from 12 Noon until 1 PM in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis Street, Nashua. His Funeral Service will take place in the Church at 1 PM. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s name to UMASS Amherst, Development Office, College of Engineering, 134 Hicks Way, Amherst, MA 01103-9270.
