Stephen ‘Steve’ M. McCarthy

Jan 14, 2022

Stephen “Steve” M. McCarthy, 54, of Merrimack, New Hampshire passed away on January 11th, 2022. Steve was born in Brighton, Massachusetts in June 1967, son of John and Rosemary McCarthy.

Steve was a loving husband and father who, with the support of his family and friends, courageously battled Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) during the final years of his life.

Steve graduated from Milford Area Senior High School in 1985 and attended Springfield College in Massachusetts. Steve worked as a Client Service Manager at Fidelity Investments in New Hampshire for 20 years, where he met his wife Kristen.

Steve and Kristen married in 2001 and have two children, Nicholas and Addison. Steve was a devoted father and passionate sports fan. He took great pride in coaching his son Nick’s football and lacrosse teams and cheering on his daughter, Addie, from the sidelines of her soccer and basketball games. Steve was an avid golfer and could take on anyone in a ping pong match. Steve played football at Milford High and continued to play Division III football for Springfield College. He loved to play basketball and tennis with his friends and family and will be remembered as a fierce and fun-loving competitor. In addition to these memories of Steve as a sportsman, Kristen, Nick, and Addie will treasure memories of camping with Steve, enjoying special family time in the outdoors.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, John J. McCarthy Sr., and his mother Rosemary C. (Lyons) McCarthy.

Steve is survived by his wife Kristen (Cook) McCarthy of Merrimack, NH; his children Nicholas and Addison McCarthy of Merrimack, NH; his brother John McCarthy Jr. of Portland, ME; and his sisters, Maureen (Robert) Laflam of Concord, NH; Carol (Paul) Luetmer of Wausau, WI; Rosemary McCarthy of Center Harbor, NH; and Nancy (Anthony) Luongo of Bedford, NH.
