Henry Nils Kinne

Dec 1, 2021

Henry Nils Kinne, 78, died peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Loretta (Wass) Kinne with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Nils was born in Brookline, Massachusetts and was the son of the late Grace E. (Wicklund) Kinne. He received his associates degree from the former Lowell Tech.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged.

For many years, he was employed as an engineer for Pica in Derry, NH.

Nils, the patriarch of his family, was also known as “Mr. Fix It”, “Mr. Kinne”, “Hun”, “Dad”, but by far his favorite name was “Popah.” Always observant, man of few words yet talented and determined to never have a broken object in his house. All friends and family knew that Nils could legitimately fix anything. He was an avid airplane lover and a huge fan of the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. His family will miss his Sunday breakfasts, his caring and quiet presence, his sly looks, shoulder hugs and his love for them. Nils took great pride in his family and was a surrogate father to many.

In addition to his wife, Loretta, he is survived by his five children, Kristen Withee and her husband James of Hooksett, Karin Zalzal and her husband David of Nashua, Kate Wasserloos of Stoddard, Matthew Kinne and his wife Angela of Hooksett and Maureen Bills and her husband Steve from Cayuga, NY; his nine grandchildren, Hannah, Jessica, Jared, Nathan, Ryan, Jack, Addison, Bryan, and Sadie. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Virginia Devlin and his brother-in-law, John A. Wass and his wife Beth; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Nils was predeceased by his grandson, Adam and brothers-in-law, Robert and Thomas Wass, and Edward Devlin; his sister-in-law, Meg Wass, and his nephew Drew Desko.

Relatives and friends are invited to Nils’ visitation on SATURDAY, December 4th from 12 noon until 3 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nils’ name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
