James John Sorensen

James John Sorensen, age 54, of Nashua, died of COVID-19 complications on Nov. 22, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born in Boston on June 6, 1957, beloved son of Paul and Joan (Niven) Sorensen of Nashua.
Jimmy graduated from Burlington High School in the LABB Program.
Jimmy’s entrepreneurial skill started while still in junior high school when he began locating old swing sets. He would dismantle them, take them home and refurbish them with fresh paint. He then sold them with delivery and set up at the customer’s home included in the price. This enterprise lasted for several years.
Jimmy was an EAGLE scout who earned his EAGLE badge by designing large 4′ x 8′ posters scattered throughout Hanscom Air Force Base Force urging all military members to be sure to vote in the 1984 presidential election by applying to their home state, county or city/town for an absentee ballot with instructions on how to do this.
He learned early on that it was a good idea, if possible, to be your own boss. This carried over to him being a self-employed courier prior to his illness.
Jimmy’s most enjoyable times were when he was driving by himself listening to the many CD rooms in his collection of country and blue grass music that he loved.
At home he enjoyed watching DVDs of old TV series such as ‘Alice’, ‘Highway to Heaven’, ‘Little House on The Prairie’ and many others. He had a very large collection of music and old TV shows.
His special interest is decorating for Christmas, especially light displays some of which he kept up all year long.
Besides his parents, Paul & Joan, he is survived by two sisters, Lynn Gibson and Ann Wingren along with several nieces & nephews. He was grandson of the late John & Mary Sorensen, Archie & Evelyn Niven, and nephew of the late John Sorensen and Norman Niven.
