Francis ‘Fran’ R. Calaguiro
Francis “Fran” R. Calaguiro, 62, died suddenly at his home in Sweden, Maine on Sunday, November 14, 2021. He is the beloved husband of Robin (Dube) Calaguiro with whom he just celebrated 32 years of marriage.
Fran was born in Utica, New York on May 7, 1959, and was the son of the late Anthony and Rose (Ruggiero) Calaguiro. He received his education in the Nashua School System.
Fran was known for his work ethic and being a business owner in Nashua, but his true passion was art and he always wanted to be an illustrator. His love for music also represented who he was. He went from “I’m No Angel” in his younger years, to a “Simple Man” in retirement. He enjoyed skiing, canoeing, working out, running, tattoos, music trivia, playing cards, his potato gun, candy, and llamas. If you knew him, he probably gave you a nickname, and if something broke, he’d tell you “and this is why we can’t have nice things”.
He touched so many people’s lives and had a one of a kind, likable personality that is hard for anyone to forget. Wherever he was, he made his presence known even with complete strangers. Being sociable is an understatement. This man had to control the room and be the center of attention. In spite of his famously short attention span, he would remember every detail you told him. He was the backbone of the family, and to him, there was nothing more important, unless you count his record-breaking delivery time when he worked at FedEx.
It was always an adventure being in the kitchen with Frankie, whether he was cooking, rummaging through your cupboards to find “the good stuff”, or sneaking the food he didn’t want onto your plate. We will miss his selfies, pictures of food, texts with every emoji he could find, when he walked by and twirled your hair, and dad jokes that made your eyes roll and laugh at the same time.
One of the best days of his life was on his birthday in 2006, when his first grandchild was born. Becoming “Peepa” would define a new chapter in his life that he loved so much…being a grandfather.
He will always be known for his immense love of his grandchildren, bragging about them, and wanting to spend as much time as possible with them. His last big passion was to build a beautiful log cabin with his wife Robin, complete with all the toys of an outdoorsman, so he could enjoy his future with his family, having fun and making more memories in the mountains of Maine.
Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him. To us, he will forever be Peepa, the king of the long and leisurely “Calaguiro goodbye”.
In addition to his wife, Robin, he is survived by his three children, Joshua Calaguiro of Dover, Jennifer Grimshaw and her husband Steven of Falmouth, Maine, and Celine Calaguiro and her fiancé Ryan Mulhern of Nashua; his three grandchildren, Hayden and Aynslie Calaguiro and Arabella Grimshaw; his sister, Jane Folsom and her husband Gary of Goffstown and his brother, Anthony Calaguiro of Largo, FL. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Carrie Anne Layne and her husband Omar, Shane Soto, Tyler Folsom, and Bobby Calaguiro; his great niece, Aylssa Layne; and his Uncle Anthony “Sonny” and Aunt Linda Ruggiero of NY, as well as several cousins and close friends. He will be so very missed by his little yorkie Gracie whom he treasured.
Fran was predeceased by his son, Cole Calaguiro and his sister-in-law, Laurie Calaguiro.
