Carlton E. Hamm

CHESTER, NH – Carlton E. Hamm, age 91, was born October 31, 1930 in Belfast ME, the son of the late Karl Hamm and Nellie Clowes and predeceased by his brother Allan Hamm and sister Francis McCleod, served in the US Navy during the Korean War prior to settling in Litchfield NH in 1959. He raised his family in Litchfield and established Hamm Septic Services, a family business that has been operational for over 60 years. He moved to Chester in 2000.

He was a hardworking, dedicated family man with a very kind demeanor who made everlasting impressions on many people, including customers. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, family and friends, driving trucks, running heavy equipment, and cutting 13+ acres of lawn on his John Deere until age 90.

His kind, thoughtful presence and wisdom will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hamm, daughter Carla Hamm and husband Robert Gallien of Chester, son Gary Hamm and wife Patricia Hamm also of Chester, son Carlton Hamm and wife Robin Hamm of Concord NH, his stepchildren Stephen and Christopher Traski of Chester, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his dog Rileigh.

Carl was well-cared for at home and passed after spending his last few days in Hospice surrounded by family.
