Eric Petersen

Eric Petersen of Amherst, New Hampshire passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 19th, 2021. He was 89 years old. He grew up in Denmark, son of the late Trygve and Svea Petersen. Eric is predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Lillian Petersen; son, Douglas Petersen and wife, Denise of North Yarmouth, Maine; grandson, Ryan Petersen and wife, Brianna Copp Petersen and great granddaughter, Evelynn of Cumberland, Maine; grandson, Jeremy Petersen of North Yarmouth, Maine; daughter in law Mary Petersen and granddaughter Deanna Petersen of New York; step daughter, Shelli Harding and husband, Richard of Milford, Massachusetts; step son, Ronald Brigham of Webster, Massachusetts; step granddaughter, Shauna Anthony and husband, Silas of Beverly, Massachusetts; step granddaughter, Jaime Parchesky and husband, Anthony of Marlboro, Massachusetts; step grandson Bryce Brigham of Worcester, Massachusetts; sister, Grethe Arnoldi of Copenhagen, Denmark and predeceased by his brothers Jorgen Petersen and Leif Petersen. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews from Denmark and Canada.

Eric earned his degree in electrical engineering from the Julious Thomson Technical College in Copenhagen, Denmark. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 where he worked for various consulting engineering firms in Montreal Quebec and Toronto Ontario for about 14 years. He married Virginia Flowers and had two children Ronald and Douglas. They immigrated to the United States in 1967 and became US citizens. Eric worked many years as an electrical engineer at Norton Company in Worcester Massachusetts than later worked for Tambrand Inc. in Palmer Massachusetts. In his retirement years he enjoyed his part time job as a school bus driver in New Hampshire, retiring permanently in (?).

Eric loved to visit with family in Canada and Denmark. His greatest passion was flying. He had his private pilot’s license, commercial and instrument rating. His most enjoyable times was taking his family flying. Eric was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday afternoon, October 19th, taking his final flight heaven bound.

A private graveside service is planned for a later date.
