Adolph M. Markiel

Oct 14, 2021

Adolph M. Markiel, 97, of Nashua sadly passed away on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center surrounded by loving family members.

He was born in Nashua, NH on October 14th, 1923 to the late Wladyslaw and Antonina (Kissel) Markiel. He was a lifelong resident of Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1941.

Adolph proudly served in the U.S. Army under General George S. Patton during WW-2 and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant until being honorably discharged in 1946. He was later employed by Nashua Corporation starting in 1950 and became Chief Electrician until his retirement in 1985. Adolph was also the founder of Mark’s Bait, who assisted with bookkeeping, taking phone orders, and loved chatting with retail and wholesale customers.

In earlier years, Adolph was an avid fisherman who often frequented local ponds and brooks, as well as vacationing with family at Hampton Beach. He was also a talented craftsman in multiple trades and enjoyed managing and working on his real estate units. In later years, he enjoyed grocery shopping, going on Sunday drives and a trip to North Hampton on occasion for a Seafood dinner.

Most of all, Adolph was a loving husband and father and very well respected by all that knew him.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 72 years, Rita (Desmarais) Markiel and his three children, Rick and Jim Markiel and Cathy (Markiel) Hock and her husband Dan Hock, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The Markiel Family would like to thank Dr. Steven Schwartz of Foundation Cardiology along with his support team of dedicated medical professionals at Southern NH Medical Center. They couldn’t have been more helpful in getting us through a most difficult time. Amen.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Church in Nashua on Tuesday September 21st. Burial followed at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, also in Nashua.
