John Thomas Basius

John Thomas Basius, known to his family and close friends as Jack, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born on September 24, 1935 in Boston MA; he was the son of the late Francis and Mary Basius.

Jack graduated from Roxbury Latin and proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He had a successful career as an air traffic controller and Manager at the Federal Aviation Administration, and was known as an “honest to the point” boss. One of his greatest passions was his love for hockey, having played for the FAA team; he refereed and coached for the local youth travel teams. He married the love of his life Anne Marie Lucey and raised a family of four children. His family knows him as a private humble and gentle man known for his compassion and being nonjudgmental.

He is survived by his daughters Susan A. Lewis of Nashua, Mary Jane Tremblay and her husband Donald of Rutland MA; sons Joseph Basius and his wife Maureen of Warren NJ, and Peter Basius and his wife Susan of Northborough MA; grandchildren Ashley Kennedy and her husband John of Nashua, Jonathan Tremblay of Rutland MA, Ryan Lewis and his wife Jenny of Boston MA, Taylor Tremblay and her fiancé Jorge Ortiz of Symrna GA, and Carter Basius of Northborough MA; great-granddaughters Eloise and Eleanor Kennedy of Nashua; and sisters Bernadette Warwick of Weymouth MA, and Kathryn Mac Gillivray of Charleston SC. He predeceased by his wife Anne; brother Frank Basius, and sister Marie Ridge.

Services will be held privately.
