Rollain ‘Raleigh’ Earl Mercier

Rollain “Raleigh” Earl Mercier, age 83, , ME, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 after a brief illness. Born February 16, 1938 in Nashua, NH, Rollain was educated in Nashua, and graduated from Nashua High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, serving during the Vietnam War, and a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 39 in Nashua. He built trains to scale and created model railroad layouts with his railroad club. He loved steam locomotives, and would travel hundreds of miles to see one take a run. Fascinated with computers, he was proud to be part of the tech revolution. He became a publisher of magazines, newspapers, and documentaries.

Rollain was predeceased by his father and mother, Philip Mercier, and Mildred Mercier, and as one of 9 children, he is survived by his brothers Leonard and Lauren Mercier, a sister-in-law; Barbara Mercier of Merrimack, his three daughters and son in-law: Barbara Natale and her husband Thomas, of Alton, Suzanne Vail of Nashua, and Mary Anne Bernard of Merrimack, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Rollain’s family is grateful that he was able to live independently until his passing, as was his fervent wish, including deep appreciation for Southern Maine Agency on Aging, Catholic Charities Independent Support Services, Meals on Wheels, and Rollain’s many friends and neighbors.

The service is as follows:

June 4, 2021, American legion Post 98, 43 Baboosic lake road Merrimack NH 03054.

Arrive at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. procession to the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen NH

Please join us for a luncheon at the American Legion Post 98, in Merrimack,

following the 11:00a.m. interment ceremony in Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be to the Another Chance Animal Rescue, 37 Market St, North Berwick, ME 03906, where Rollain rescued many cats.
