Claire (Lavoie) Austin-Ulster

Claire (Lavoie) Austin-Ulster, Pa (formerly of Nashua, NH), passed away at home surrounded by family, on January 18, 2021 after a brief illness. Claire grew up in Nashua NH where she graduated high school, settled down with her husband Lyle (Sonny) Austin jr and raised 5 children. Claire worked various jobs through her life. Her favorite was towards the end of her career at Charlotte Ave where she was happily involved in the Early School Program as well as the After School Program until her retirement in 2015.

Claire moved with her husband to Pennsylvania to be closer to more family and quickly made hundreds of friends. She was an avid reader and never passed up a shopping trip. She loved Neil Diamond, playing cards, lemon cake, a cup of coffee and a good gossip story. But most of all she loved her family. The BBQ parties, the dinners, the karaoke bars, the limo rides – if it involved family, she was all in. Her door was always open for anyone including the neighborhood friends of her children, who were always welcomed and called her ‘mom’.

Claire leaves behind her husband Sonny of 50 years. Her children Laura (Ben) Decker of NY, Dana and Sherrie York of Pa, Jason (Correna) York of NH, Scot (Maureen) Austin of NH, Lyle 3 (Krissy) Austin of NH. She also leaves behind her ever growing family of numerous favorite grandchildren and favorite great-grandchildren – 3 more on the way. She was especially excited to welcome the 5th generation baby this spring.

To honor Claire’s wishes, there will not be any services. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Claire when able to.
