Chester R. Spinney ‘Ray’

Chester R. Spinney “Ray” died December, 13, 2020, at Kindred hospital in Melbourne, FL after a brief, non-COVID related illness. He was a Stoneham, MA native, born on February 20, 1943, the son of Chester R. Spinney Jr. and Irma M. Berthel (Spinney). He was the husband of Linda A. Spinney (Wawrzynski) who predeceased him in 2015. They were married June, 1969 in NY. He was an older brother to Pamela Bell (Spinney)who predeceased him in 2018. He graduated from Melrose, MA High School in 1961, served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner on the USS Picuda (SS-382) as an Electronic Specialist from 1965 – 1970. Ray worked for BAE Systems in New Hampshire for 35 years as a Quality Engineer.

He was an active member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and U.S. Submarine Veterans club (Snug Harbor). He was also a financial supporter of Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude Hospital and Easter Seals. Ray was a Red Sox fan and possessed a tremendous knowledge of baseball history.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews; Kimberly Bell, Melissa Bell, Douglas Bell, Christopher Bell and John Bell.

Services: A walk-through visitation will be held at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH., Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at the Davis Funeral Home at 7 pm (Directly after visitation hours). The burial will take place Friday, January 8, 2021 at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery, 391 Main St., Nashua, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend and meet at Evergreen Cemetery.
