Therese Sbat Dunklee

Therese Sbat Dunklee, 87, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 10, 1933 in Tripoli, Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Rahmee (Hadeed) Gerjes.

Therese spent her early years growing up in Tripoli, Lebanon. She attended college and graduated with a B.A. in linguistics from The Sorbonne, University of Paris. In 1966, she moved to Nashua with her husband Fouad Sbat and their children. Therese was a loving and selfless Mother to her children and the most wonderful Tita to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Therese’s home was always open to everyone and there was an abundance of her delicious Lebanese food for all! She had an amazing ability to make each person she came in contact with feel very special and loved. Family and friends spent summers on her porch and long winters in her warm dining room; there were endless conversations over coffee, fabulous stories and so much laughter…Therese made every holiday or birthday a joyous celebration!

Therese will be deeply missed by her sons Abby Sbat and his wife Cynthia of Deering, NH, Telly Sbat and his wife Rhonda of Manchester, NH, Dr. Kennedy Sbat and his wife Jacqueline of Pottstown, PA; daughters Eman Rootovich and Jeff Piper of Nashua, NH, Idah Snee and her husband Michael of Nashua, NH. She adored and was so proud of her 10 grandchildren; Therese, Joseph, Jon, Tarah, Justin, Michael, Abigail, Jeffrey, Julia and Abbey Marie. She lovingly raised Chris Sbat of Buford, GA and Sue Lemay of Manchester, NH.

Therese is also survived by her brother Joseph Gerjes of Chester, NH; sister Marie Pelletier of Nashua, NH; and will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her first husband Fouad Sbat; husband Charles Dunklee; and beloved sister, Louise Anton.

Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Therese may be offered to Home, Health & Hospice Care of Merrimack, NH.
