Norman D. Mosley

Norman D. Mosley, age 87, of Nashua, NH died December 10th, 2020. He was born to the late Miflin and Louemma Gregg Mosley on November 6, 1933 in Edenborn, Pa. His family moved to Detroit, MI in 1947. He graduated from Northwestern High School where he was an outstanding scholar and athlete in track and football. He joined the US Air Force and served as an electronic instrument trainer. Returning to Detroit he received his BS Degree in Business Administration from Wayne State in 1960. While at Wayne State University he continued with football and track. He did post graduate work at the University of Michigan and later at Northeastern University.

Norman worked for the Detroit Department of Water Supply from 1961to 1965. He then became Assistant to the Director of the Detroit Labor Relations Bureau, negotiating on behalf of the City with labor organizations. While in Detroit he ran for State Representative. In 1966 Norman moved his family to the Boston area for a position in Polaroid Corporation. He was Production Supervisor and Manager of camera shutters in Polaroid’s High Volume Manufacturing Group. He received recognition in 1970 for his contribution for manufacturing 5 million shutter mechanisms for Polaroid’s Colorpack II camera. He then joined a start up company, Entrex, Inc., in Burlington, Mass to set up their manufacturing operation. He returned to Polaroid in 1972 having line responsibility for the SX-70 camera. In 1974 he joined Digital Equipment Corporation. During his 18 year career at Digital he held various positions-Materials/Production Control Manufacturing Manager, Government and Engineering Systems Manufacturing Manager and Logistics Business Manager. He retired in 1992.

Throughout his professional career Norman continued to participate in track and field competitive events. At age 44 he decided to try a winter sport, skiing. Before long he was racing on NASTAR modified courses in New England. He quickly became Captain of a DEC Ski team. Within 5 years he was one of 10 skiers in his age category to be selected from five regions through the country to compete in the solemn races at the NASTAR National Finals in Aspen, Colorado. In retirement he continued to ski into his early 80s. He also continued competing in track and field, placing and wining in numerous 100 and 200 yard dash Invitational and NH Senior Game events.

Norman was a resident of Nashua, NH for 42 years and attended the Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashua.

He is survived by his partner of 42 years, June Haskell of Nashua, NH his brother Barnabas Mosley of MI; his sister Vera Riley of AZ; his sister Alfreda Ceribasi of MI; his 5 children, Lisa Mosley; Robert Mosley, Marla Mosley Woods, Sarah Mosley and Norma Mosley, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren all of the metropolitan Atlanta, GA area.
