Robert G. ‘Bob’ Meier

Oct 28, 2020

Robert G. “Bob” Meier, 77, of Hudson, NH, passed away on October 17, 2020, peacefully in his sleep at SNH Medical Center in Nashua, with his wife Nancy and daughters Susan and Heidi by his side.

A resident of Hudson for most of his life, he was born in Winchester, MA, on January 17, 1943. Bob was the elder of four children of the late Ann (Lisio) and Ralph Meier.

After Bob graduated from Alvirne High School in 1961, he proudly served his country for four years in the US Navy on the ship USS Independence stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He later enjoyed working in the rug and flooring industry. Bob opened the carpet department at Hudson Furniture where he worked for over a decade. He then worked at Carpet Creations where he made many lasting friendships and memories. Bob was known for his outgoing personality and always having a smile on his face. He loved working and talking to all his customers.

Bob and his beloved wife Nancy (Wardwell) were married on March 14, 1964 and shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Members of his family include two daughters: Susan, her husband David Plante and their four children, Zachary, Emily, Aidan and Amelia of Goffstown and Heidi, her husband Marc Johnson and their four children Landon, Ethan, Griffin and Olivia. He leaves behind a brother Ralph (Ron) and his wife Sharon of Florida, a sister Ann Sheehan of Hudson and a brother-in-law Roger Landry who was married to his sister Sandra (deceased), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful, caring, loyal husband, father and grampy who’s big heart and even bigger smile will be remembered by all who knew him.

Bob was the best grampy! He cherished every moment with his grandkids. He loved telling stories, always joking around, frequent trips to the beach and mountains, many golf outings, and going to any amusement park he could. He loved the flume ride and would always be the first in line!

Arrangements are in the care of Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium in Manchester, NH. Interment will be at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.  Due to the Corvid-19, a Memorial Service and “Celebration of Life” will be at a later date.

Those who wish to make a memorial donation in Bob’s memory are asked to consider the First Baptist Church of Hudson or a charity of one’s choice.
