Edna M. Dubuc

Jun 9, 2020

Edna May (Dumont) Dubuc, age 84, reunited with the estimated 20 animals – including dogs, cats, and even a skunk – she owned over the course of her lifetime on June 7, 2020 surrounded by the heroes at Greenbriar nursing home, due to complications from COVID-19.

Born and raised in New Hampshire, Edna was fittingly born on April Fool’s Day, always bringing the fun, laughter, and jokes with her wherever she went. Her main audience was her husband of 44 years, Arthur, who passed in 2000, and her two daughters, Valerie and Cheryl.

Valerie and Cheryl were with Edna through it all and until the end. Through dancing on the tables at Cheryl’s wedding, a minor QVC addiction, listening to nothing but Daniel O’Donnell for a straight decade, refusing to wear anything except stirrup pants, a nursing home move, dementia setting in, and COVID ending her story all too soon, the love she had for her daughters, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren was never ceasing. She was a wonderful mom and an even better Memere/GG.

Edna had a lot of love to give and she gave it readily. To the many bags of fudge nut bars from The Big 1. To all the blankets she crocheted from her rocking chair. To every piece of her famous fudge and every bite of gorton she shared with us. To every person she made dance whenever music was heard.

She was the bingo queen. She loved snowmen and apple scented candles. She never met a candy she couldn’t store in her bra for later. She had great teeth until they got lost. She’d flirt with everyone. She only drank iced tea. She laughed so much she often peed her pants.

We’ll miss her stories and her sporadic use of French. She hasn’t been able to dance these past couple years, but one thing we know for sure is that wherever she is there’s country music playing and she’s dancing.

Her loving family consists of her two daughters, Valerie Burgess and her husband Randall of Nashua and Cheryl Turner and her husband Ralph of Merrimack; four grandchildren, Kevin Burgess and his wife Sarah-Marie Cole of Nashua, Corey Burgess and his wife Michelle of Driftwood, TX, Chelsea Turner and her fiancé Jack Butler of Medford, MA, and Ralph Turner and his wife Karen of Palm Coast, FL; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Camden Burgess; and six great-grandpuppies Bella, Louie, Buckley, Riddle, Miles, and Kodak.

Edna had six siblings, predeceased by all but two. Gerry Dumont and his wife Sue of Merrimack, and Richard Dumont and his wife Ellen of Barrington, RI. She wishes the best of luck to Gerry and Dick as they contend for the title of last man standing.

In lieu of flowers please celebrate her life by donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at www.alz.org or hugging your family members a little bit tighter tonight.
