Alfred L. Noel
HUDSON – Alfred L. Noel, 75, a lifelong resident of Hudson, died at his home on Friday, May 15, 2020, following a courageous 25-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Alfred — who was also known as Fred, Freddy, Al, and Bobby — was born in Nashua on December 4, 1944 and was the son of the late Alfred and Barbara (Nichols) Noel. He was the loving and devoted husband of Suzanne (Gaudreau) Noel with whom he shared 55 beautiful years of marriage.
In addition to serving as an officer for the Hudson Police Department in the 1970s, Fred spent much of his life operating his own construction business. He served as Hudson’s Building Inspector for two years. From decks and additions to countless homes, his legacy can be seen in many of Hudson’s neighborhoods.
Fred was active in the Hudson community throughout his life. He coached recreational softball, played on the Hetzer’s Bike Shop men’s softball team for many years, helped found the Alvirne Booster Club and the Hudson Snowmen snowmobile club, and was a member of the Hudson Lions Club. Fred loved snowmobiling with family and friends every winter. His family was everything to him and he enjoyed nothing more than spending a weekend with loved ones at Northwood Lake.
In addition to his beloved wife, Fred is survived by his daughter Anne (Noel) Anctil, and her husband John, of Litchfield; two granddaughters, Danielle Anctil of Hudson and Stacey Anctil of Manchester; a sister Judy (Noel) Smith and her husband Doug of Homosassa, FL; a sister-in-law Carol (Gaudreau) Devanney of Tyngsboro; a brother-in-law Andrew Gaudreau and his wife Marilyn of Nashua; a sister-in-law Gloria Gaudreau of Nashua; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family is deeply grateful for the incredible treatment and support that Dr. Apetauerova and the entire DBS team at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center gave to Fred throughout the past few years. Their expertise and compassionate care changed his life for the better in the face of a difficult disease.
Due to current public health and safety concerns, funeral services for Fred will be limited to immediate family members and held privately. Burial will take place in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua. The family will announce a memorial service and celebration of life when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Fred’s name to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center – Neurology Movement Disorders Fund c/o Philanthropy, 41 Mall Rd, Burlington, MA 01805.
