Sonja L. Straver

Sonja L. Straver, 84 a resident of Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, formerly of Nashua NH, died Monday, February 17, 2020 at Catholic Medical Center.

She was born September 5, 1935 in Jakarta, Indonesia, the daughter of August and Georgetta Willems. 

After leaving Indonesia in 1955, she moved to Holland. From there, she travelled across Europe singing as a part of a trio. In 1965, Sonja and her son Marcell moved to America to join other family members. She continued singing for several years. 

Sonja later studied computer programming and worked in the electronics field for many years. Later in life, she was less mobile and enjoyed watching sci-fi and action movies. 

Sonja is predeceased by her sister Georgetta Monchgesang, and brother Hans Willems.

Sonja is survived by her son Marcell Enoch and his wife Nancy MacDonald of Goffstown, NH, sisters Pauline Vollemans of Milford, NH, Hilda “Mickey” Veit, Emma Deems, Irmgard “Miety” Hartlief, all of the Netherlands, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

SERVICES: Visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1 Lock St, Nashua, NH. 03064 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 am. A memorial donation can be made in Sonja’s loving memory to, “Families in Transition,” 122 Market St, Manchester, NH 03101.
