Charlotte Durkin

Feb 13, 2020

Charlotte “Cha-Cha” Durkin, 90, of Nashua, NH passed away peacefully February 9, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua with her daughter by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene F. Durkin.

Born in Dover-Fox Croft, Maine on July 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Clara (Milbury) Gallant. She then moved to Hanover, Mass as a young child and received her education from the Hanover School System. She spent most of her life in New England working in the food industry. She was employed by St. Joseph Hospital for 30 years, finally retiring at the age of 89. She formed lifelong friendships during her time at St. Joe’s and she thought of St. Joe’s as her second family. She was a great story teller and had so many to share.

Charlotte was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her arts and crafts, as well as cooking and baking. She also enjoyed a night out attending plays and shows. She took great pleasure in taking care of her four legged companion, Guy and always enjoyed a cold beer (or two) after a long day.

She loved spending precious time with her daughter Colleen. Above all, her most cherished time was spent with her grandson, Brendan; whom she was extremely close with. He was the light of her life.

Although small in stature, she had a big personality and she wasn’t afraid to let anyone know it. She was full sarcasm, sass, and wit. Charlotte touched the lives of many, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the great pleasure in knowing her.

Charlotte is survived by her only Daughter Colleen Shea of Nashua, her grandson Brendan Shea of Nashua, her dear friend Silvana Goss of Chelmsford, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband and best friend Eugene Durkin, her brother James Gallant of Hanover Mass, her sister Alice Taylor of Brockton Mass, and her dearest friends, Patricia Morrissey and Mac McQueeney of Marshfield, Mass.

Charlotte’s family is greatly appreciative of all the care she received from the staff at St. Joseph Hospital.

Friends and family are invited Charlotte’s visitation at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley St. Nashua, on MONDAY, February 17th from 4 until 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E Dunstable Rd., Nashua on TUESDAY, February 18th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA.
