Joyce Louise Phelan Cerni

Joyce Louise Phelan Cerni, age 86, beloved mother, sister, and aunt, died on Sunday December 15, 2019 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital, Huntersville, NC from complications from pneumonia. Joyce was born and raised in Nashua, attended Nashua High School, became a certified lifeguard, and had the honor of being named Miss Nashua 1951. She volunteered at The Hunt Home and worked for The Nashua Corporation as a secretary. Joyce moved to Boston and became a TWA stewardess in 1954 where she served with distinction until marrying Richard Hoover Cerni in 1957. They eventually moved to Southern California and had two children. Joyce became a Relocation Specialist for Coldwell Banker in Irvine, CA where she also attained her Real Estate License. Joyce was an avid gardener, a great cook, a highly skilled pianist, artist & sculptor. Joyce was also quite accomplished in, and enjoyed sewing, knitting & crochet, bowling, and golfing. But most importantly, Joyce will be remembered by all for her hospitality and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and special. Joyce was preceded in death by Richard Cerni and her younger daughter Janet Regenia Cerni Hunt. She is survived by her older daughter Dianne Dorothy Cerni Campbell, her sister Ruth Phelan Tringo, her brother James Phelan, her nieces Franziska Phelan and Peggy Sposato, and loving relatives and close friends who miss her dearly and cherish her memory. Her ashes are laid to rest next to her younger daughter Janet at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, CA. Donations can be made to Hinds Feet Farm. Please email kmcalear@hindsfeetfarm.org.
