Phoebe Jane Hodge

Phoebe Jane (Batchelder) Hodge, 84, of Wilton, NH, went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2019. Born in Goffstown, NH on January 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Gertrude (Frost) Batchelder. She was the loving bride and “million-dollar baby from the five and dime store” of 65 years to her husband, Herbert Hodge Jr.

Phoebe worked for McLellan’s, Milford Manor Nursing Home, Pandora and Designers in Wilton, NH. She was a member of the Choir and Ladies Guild at Sacred Heart Church in Wilton, NH where she was also a Eucharistic Minister.

She served as a Den Mother for Boy Scouts of NH. In her spare time, Phoebe enjoyed dancing, trips with the Nashua and Hudson Senior Citizen centers with her husband “Bud”, being a homemaker, cake decorating, crafts, and camping. Most of all, Phoebe was a dedicated wife, mother, nana, great nana and sister who cherished time spent with family.

Phoebe leaves behind her beloved husband, Herbert Hodge Jr; her children, Thomas Hodge, Deborah Tremblay and her husband, Dorothy Hodge, Kathleen Bennion and her husband Stuart, and Timothy and his wife Sherry Lynne; her brother, William Batchelder and his wife Carol; her step-siblings, Tracey Batchelder and Patti-Sue Lafleur; her grandchildren, Danielle Courtemache, Pamela Hodge, Marion Nichols, Sarah Dunning, Melissa Boisvert and Andrew Bennion; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Phoebe was predeceased by her brothers, Sonny, Robert and James Batchelder and her sister, Sharon Bolden.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 12th at 11:00am at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phoebe’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org
