Joan E. (Broderick) Almeida

MILFORD- Joan E. (Broderick) Almeida, 78, died peacefully Friday morning, October 18, 2019, at Crestwood Center in Milford, NH surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born in Boston, MA on May 5, 1941 and was the daughter of the late James F. and Charlotte L. (Shicks) Broderick.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a director and founder of Bostons, Neighborhood Justice Community, a non profit organization who helped with community service. She truly loved her job there and dedicated much of her time.

In her free time, Joan enjoyed puzzles and playing Bingo. She will forever be remembered for her outgoing personality and gift to have conversations with anyone. Joan was truly a people person even with her time spent at Crestwood. She became so involved with her community, even becoming a co-coordinator for many events held at the facility. Above all, she cherished time with her family who she loved deeply.

Joan is survived by her daughter Leah Ortiz and her husband Elliot of Nashua and her son Lawrence Almeida and his wife Janette of Brockton; her seven grandchildren, Kristofer Ortiz, Laura Almeida, Lawrence Jr., Deanna Ortiz, Brandon Ortiz, Jamie Cataquet, and Jolene Cataquet; his great-grandson, Avian Almeida. She is also survived by her sister Donna L. Currie of Canton, MA and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Currie.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joan’s visitation on THURSDAY, October 24th from 10 AM until 12 NOON at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Edson Cemetery, Lowell, MA.
