Sep 29, 2019

Richard Arman Mardigian, 90, of Nashua, passed away peacefully at the Hunt Community on Saturday September 21, 2019. He was born on August 15, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Arman and Opal (Landers) Mardigian.

Richard excelled at his education; he completed high school early, which allowed him to enroll into college at the young age of 16, where he won numerous awards for his academics. He held his first job as a counselor at a youth center in Detroit, and then moved on to be Human Resources Director for his family’s business. He married Angelina Lanese in 1960 and was a devoted husband until her passing in 1991. He was a psychologist for many years, and then moved to Southern Florida where he obtained his real estate license, before finally settling down in Nashua to be closer to his family. He spoke many languages, loved to compose music, and enjoyed playing bridge at the Nashua Senior Center. Richard was very proud of his Armenian heritage.

He is survived by his daughter Marisa Spilios and her husband Arthur, granddaughter Angelina Spilios, nieces Diane Leatherman, Linda Amicarelli, and Victoria Freshman, as well as several grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his late wife’s family in Italy and dear family friend Fr. Remo Zanatta of Allenstown, NH. In addition to his wife Angelina, Richard was predeceased by his sister Doris Freshman.

Richard was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, and was a truly honorable gentleman. He will be missed terribly by his family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
