Charles ‘‘Chuck’’ Varney

Charles (Chuck) E. Varney 86, of Goffstown, NH, formally of Hudson, NH died on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Hackett Hill Center, in Manchester, NH.

Chuck was born on September 13, 1932 in Rochester, NH He was the son of the late Richard and MinnieBelle Varney and predeceased by his brother, Fred Varney, and sister Minnie Young.

He graduated from Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH and joined the Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. Years later, he joined the Naval Reserves.

Upon returning from Japan, Chuck met and married Rita (Charles) with whom he shared 63 years. They made their residence in Hudson for forty years.

Chuck is survived by his daughter, Cindy Walsh and her husband, Michael, of Pepperell, MA; son, Jim Varney and partner Brenda Paradis of Hudson, NH, and daughter, Laurie Bolton and husband Mike, of Goffstown, NH; five grandchildren, Justin, Kirsten, Rick, Tim, and Amy; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert; several nieces & nephews and many dear friends.

Visiting Hours will be held on Monday August 19th from 4pm-6:30pm in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson, NH. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Funeral Home beginning at 6:30pm. Burial will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, practicing random acts of kindness in Chuck’s honor would bring him much joy.
