Norman E. Cloutier
Norman E. Cloutier, 72, of Salem, NH formerly and longtime resident of Hudson NH, passed away on April 11, 2019, while surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born on the 16th of October, 1946, in Berlin, NH, the son of late Charles Cloutier and Grace Griffin. Norman was a graduate of Portsmouth High School in 1964. Norman enlisted into the Army in 1964 and served in combat operations in Vietnam. Norman returned home after his honorable discharge in 1968 and worked as an engineer at Sanders, in Nashua, where he met and married Louise Roy, the mother of his two sons. They divorced in 1996.
The majority of Norman’s career was spent in the Engineering field, working on government contracts and equipment. He was a self taught man who was very good with understanding needs and engineering a solution. Norman worked at Bartley R.F. Systems where he met, Lucille. They married in 2003. Norman retired, after many years of loyal service, from MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Lexington MA in 2013.
Norman was not a member of many social scenes but devoted his life to all New England sports specifically hockey, wood working, and his Labrador retrievers. He was actively involved with Cub/Boy Scouts and Hudson Pop Warner football when his boys were young. Where ever you saw Norman’s children Ron and Roger, you saw Norman. He was a devoted father and loved all of his children tirelessly. Norman was a kind man with a big heart and enjoyed conversation. He was a firm believer that there wasn’t anything a hug could not cure. Norman had a strong passion for woodworking and carpentry, and built many things. He was a devoted member of the “numb thumb, that smarts!” and the “busted knuckle” club.
Norman is survived by his two sons Roger Cloutier and his partner Gwen Storey of Nashua, and Ronald Cloutier and his wife Jeri of Hudson. His wife Lucille Cloutier of Salem, and her two children, Melanie Rocha and her husband Troy of Taunton, MA, and her son Rick Dion and his wife Jessica of Derry, NH. His two sisters Dolly Shumate of Richmond VA, and preceded in death by his sister Aldea Cloutier. Norman also leaves behind many nieces, and nephews, ten beautiful grandchildren and one great grandchild.
There will be no funeral out of respect for Norman’s wishes. A celebration of life will be held at the VFW at 15 Bockes Road, Hudson, NH 03051 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on 20 April 2019. Norman will be laid to rest with his Mother Grace and Sister Aldea in Milan NH, on their family plot at a later date.
