Edward F. ‘Ed’ Anzalone
Edward “Ed” Anzalone, age 72, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2019, of complications from a hard fought, 10-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY, on New Year’s Day in 1947; the first of three sons of Salvatore and Armelia (Petraglia) Anzalone. He attended Fort Hamilton High School and joined the United States Navy in 1963. Ed proudly served his country for 20 years, retiring in 1983 as Master Chief from his final assignment in San Diego, CA. Soon after, he returned to the east coast to be closer to his parents and raise his family.
Ed was a devoted father and a friend to all. He was an active member of St. Christopher Parish for many years serving as Eucharistic Minister and usher. He was worldly and wise, funny, charismatic and loving. Ed enjoyed woodworking and was a skilled craftsman. He also loved cars and spent countless hours in his garage repairing, enhancing and restoring classic and modern vehicles with his son and namesake. He loved being around his children and grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them, helping with homework and projects, cheering them on at various sporting events, volunteering at their schools and getting to know their friends. Ed enjoyed cigars and could often be found relaxing with one by his pool or on the beach. He loved animals, especially his dogs, cooking, country music and a good book. He was a protector and source of fun, comfort and safety to all who knew him, particularly his children and their friends; to them he was a real life super hero and their biggest fan. He cultivated special and unique bonds with each of his kids and those he loved. His loss will be felt far and wide for years to come.
Ed is survived by his wife of 9 years, Robin, his three children, Edward Anzalone (wife Darlene), Tarrah Ledoux (husband Chad) and Joelyn Drennan (husband Thomas), eight grandchildren: Nickolaus (26), Dru (22), Ivy (20), Vito (11), Vinnie (8), Amelia (8), Wiley (4) and Edward (3) and one great granddaughter, Sierra (2 months). He is also survived by his step-son, Eric Martini (wife Jennifer) and step-grandchildren, Becca (23), Gabrielle (22), Tyler (19) and Joshua (10) and another great granddaughter, Piper (1 month). Finally, he is also survived by his brothers Roger (wife Maryann) and Michael, his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Kathleen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Kristin Marie, his step-son, Damien and his sister-in-law, Roberta.
Ed refused to dwell in sadness and at his request there will be no calling hours. However, he loved God and a good party and as such a funeral mass to CELEBRATE his life and reunion with his Lord, will be held at Resurrection Parish in Nashua, NH on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow immediately in the church hall.
