Shirley L. Young

Shirley L. Young, 92, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Saturday June 16th, 2018 at her home after a sudden illness.

She was born in Boston, MA a daughter of the late Elbert and Dorathea Hotz.

Shirley was a former member of the Huntington Street Baptist Church in CT and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashua for the last 13 years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Mrs. Young was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Alfred Young, Jr. in 2010, a daughter, Deborah Young, and a brother, Leonard Hotz.

Surviving members of her family include three daughters, Jan and her husband Bob Fast of FL, Ruth and her husband Aubrey Haschick of MA, and Marcia and her husband Stephen Draper of Nashua; four grandchildren, Michael Curtis, Jeanine and her husband Peter Zarth, Andrew Draper and Samuel and his wife Sarah Draper; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Shelmire, a sister in-law Louise Hotz and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at the First Baptist Church, 121 Manchester Street, Nashua on Saturday June 23rd from 10 – 11 AM. A memorial service will take place in the church at 11 AM.

Burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Monday at 12 Noon. For those who wish, memorial donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to First Baptist Church of Nashua or the Billy Graham Assoc.
