Richard ‘Scott’ White

Scott White passed away on May 15, 2018. He was a longtime resident of Amherst, New Hampshire and later, Nashua, New Hampshire.

Scott was an accomplished musician and composer and touched many hearts and lives far and wide with his music. In 1971 he won the Baldwin Piano competition and in 1975, the New Hampshire State Music Teachers Association competition. His musical activities included accompanying for the Nashua Choral Society and the Merrimack Concert Association. He was also Music Director for the Methuen Young People’s Chorus and the Union Congregational Church in North Reading, Massachusetts.

Scott graduated from Daycroft School in Greenwich, CT and the University of New Hampshire. He earned his Master’s Degree in accompanying at Boston University. He played the organ for several Christian Science churches, including the churches in Lowell and Concord, Massachusetts, and Nashua. Scott also taught piano at the Nashua Community Music School and Keene State College. In addition, Scott published several solos, which are available on watchfiremusic.com. He has also composed several handbell pieces.

In addition to music, Scott also loved hiking with his family, particularly in the White Mountains and the Monadnock Region. He was also an avid New England sports fan, cheering on the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics.

Scott is survived by his wife, Lori, his daughter, Sue Mai, his parents, Jerome and Patricia White, sister, Mirth, niece, Arianell and his Uncle Ed and Aunt Volney.
