Thomas R. Higgins

Thomas R. Higgins, 72, of Litchfield, NH, formerly of Billerica, MA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of June L. (Ferguson) Higgins, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. "Tom" was born in Melrose, MA on September 13, 1943. He was the son of the late Walter and Virginia (May) Higgins; and the brother of the late Walter S. Higgins; and the late Patricia (Higgins) Morello. Tom grew up in Melrose, attending Melrose Schools and Malden Business School. He raised his family in Billerica, MA, before retiring to Litchfield, NH. Tom was always an active person, loving golf and swimming. He and his wife loved to travel with their family and friends, cruising frequently. He was an avid volunteer and in recent years drove for the American Cancer Society. He was a hard worker his whole life, strong and determined in all that he did, including his fight with cancer. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Sareault and her husband Robert of Lowell, Susan Bowley and her husband Glenn of Chelmsford, and Jodi Higgins of Lowell; and one son, Thomas Higgins, Jr. and his wife Donna Intravaia of Billerica. He adored his four granddaughters, Jessica and Alyssa Sareault and Jenn and Kim Bowley. He also leaves many cherished friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 2 at 11:00am at Immanuel Church, 301 Boston Rd., Chelmsford, MA. Donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society at 2 Commerce Dr. #110, Bedford, NH or the Community Hospice House at 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH.
