Paul Thomas Hartnett
Paul Thomas Hartnett, 33, of Nashua, NH, and formerly of Shelburne, VT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and caring family at his home in Nashua after a long and courageous battle with melanoma. Paul was born in Nashua on March 13, 1982, a son of Thomas and Renee (Mourant) Hartnett of Nashua. He was a graduate of Nashua High School, Class of 2000. Following graduation, he earned his BS degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Geology from Green Mountain College, which held a special place in his heart.
Paul spent several years working at Shelburne Farms in Vermont making artisan cheese. While living in Oregon for several years he enjoyed working with friends at Three Creeks Brewery.
Paul loved the band Phish and attended 66 Phish shows, finding peace and joy in their improvisational musical style and community of friends wherever they played. Paul loved learning new instruments and enjoyed playing guitar (bass) and banjo. He loved to jam with friends for hours and was known for a rendition of Lou Reed’s "Sweet Jane." While living in Shelburne, VT, he played in a local band "Down Cellar" at his favorite watering hole "The Old Shed." While in New Hampshire, he loved to spend time enjoying the beauty and culture of the lakes region with his loved ones.
Paul was a loving and compassionate man who filled a room with warmth and laughter. He had a passion for gemstones, hiking, fishing, skiing, nature and of course his friends and cat Daisy. He was thankful for the caring treatments of acupuncture, Reiki and massage therapy he received from the Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies at Dana Farber.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Paul Mourant; his uncle Stephen Mourant; and his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Jane (Benner) Hartnett.
In addition to his devoted parents, he is survived by his love Claire Whitaker of Sunapee, NH; his siblings Joseph and Callie, both of Nashua; his maternal grandmother Kathleen Mourant of State College, PA; his paternal grandfather Ken Benner State College PA; his aunts and uncles, Paula and Dave Farson of Ohio, Richard Mourant of State College, PA, Kathy and Rob Moir of State College, PA, and Tim and Linda Hartnett of Alpine, Wyoming; and many cousins.
