James G. Prevel
James G. Prevel, 76, of Nashua, beloved husband of Tina (Antonas) Prevel, died unexpectedly at his home, Saturday morning, September 13, 2014. Jim left us too soon.
Born in Queens, New York on September 8, 1938, he was a son of the late Christopher and Sylvia (Psillos) Prevel. Educated in New York schools, Jim was a graduate of Queens College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Economics from Baruch University in New York City.
A resident of Nashua for many years, Mr. Prevel had been employed as a statistician and research analyst with I.T.T. Semi Conductors of Lawrence, Massachusetts from 1977 to 1988. He continued his career with the Internal Revenue Service and the US Postal Service until his retirement.
In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed dancing and traveling with his wife to Europe and around the USA. He also enjoyed photography, stamp collecting, gardening, exercising and was an avid reader.
A devoted husband and family man, Jim is survived by his wife Tina, with whom he recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on July 15th; two daughters, Andrea Higgins and her husband Christopher of Wilton, NH and Melina Prevel-Turmel and her significant other Richard Isabelle of Hudson; four grandchildren, Meghan and Sarah Higgins and Jared and Jason Turmel; a sister, Helen Prevel of Flushing, NY; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julia and Costas Pitsillides of Nashua; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Beverly Antonas of Bradenton, FL; close friends, Beth and Mark Tucarella of Derry, NH and Eileen Allen of Billerica, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
