Marjorie L. (Staples) Dow

Marjorie L. (Staples) Dow, 90, of Merrimack passed away on Sunday August 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua after a lengthy illness.

She was born on April 14, 1924 in Eliot, ME, to the late Edwin Staples and Mary Strout.

Many years ago, she worked at the Portsmouth Naval Yard, and also had worked at Bradlees, Rich’s and Child World Dept stores. Also Marjorie and her husband delivered the Nashua Telegraph for many years. She also attended Grace Baptist Church in Merrimack and loved music and traveling.

Marjorie was pre-deceased by her first husband, Karl A. Whitney in 1975; and her second husband Joseph L.F. Dow in 1990; a son in-law, Ernie Chase; a brother, Howard Goodwin; and two sisters, Evelyn Minard and Isabelle Koehler.

Surviving members of her family include five sons and a daughter-in-law, Karl Whitney and his wife Peggy of Kittery, ME, Dennis Whitney and his significant other Diane Dever of Rochester, Bradley Dow of NY, Peter Dow and Donald Dow both of Merrimack; four daughters, Barbara of CT, Dolores Chambers of Merrimack, Mary Chase of Rochester, and Janice Bealieu of Nashua; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and her live in companion of the last 25 years, Ashley Sanborn.

Memorial calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Aug. 21, 2014 from 4 – 6 PM. A memorial service will be held at 6 PM.
