Robert was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 15, 1949, the devoted son of the late Robert F. and Mary Agnes (Barrett) Madden. He was known as Rob to his loving brother and sisters and as Uncle Robbie to his loving nephews and nieces. He was known as Bob to his many friends and business associates.

Rob grew up in Nashua and attended first grade at Sacred Heart School, then attended St. Christopher School through the eighth grade. He was a member of the first graduating class from Bishop Guertin High School in 1967. Rob attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and graduated from Saint Anselm College in 1972.

He traveled extensively throughout the world, especially to attend horse races including The Longchamps in Paris, The Kentucky Derby, and he spent the better part of the month of August in Saratoga Springs, NY, at the races every summer. The most important thing to him was the time he spent with family and friends. He never missed a Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or Fourth of July back home in New Hampshire, and he will be sorely missed. He was loved by many and returned that love tenfold. One could count as a great life blessing to be related to Rob or a friend of his.
