Michael G. Bolduc

SANDY RIVER PLANTATION, Maine – Michael Gerard Bolduc, 58, of Sandy River Plantation, ME, passed away at his home on May 29, 2014. He was born on October 2, 1955 in Waterville, ME, the son of Gerard and Jeanne (Pellerin) Bolduc. He attended schools in Fairfield, ME, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1973, where he was on the football and track teams. During his college years at Colby in Waterville, ME, he played football and lacrosse and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, graduating in the class of 1977. For the next 33 years, Michael pursued a career in education, teaching high school math and coaching. His first position was at Oxford Hills High School in Oxford, ME, from 1977-1979, where he taught math and was the assistant football and track coach. He taught math at Winchendon High School in Winchendon, MA, from 1979-1980 and then at Williamstown High School in Williamstown, VT, from 1980-1982, where he also coached girls basketball. While at Nashua High School in Nashua, NH, from 1982-2009, Michael was one of the founding teachers of the School-Next-to-a-School (SNTAS) alternative education program (1997-2004) where he taught sophomore geometry, organized the annual rafting trip and participated in camping, Habitat for Humanity, and fundraising for the program. Additionally, he started coaching lacrosse in Nashua, creating a club team at the high school level. He is remembered as the ”Father of Nashua Lacrosse. When not involved in the SNTAS program, Michael taught math for 20 years at Nashua High School and Nashua South after it opened. He is remembered by many of his former students and players as someone who emphasized hard work, dedication and good citizenship. Returning to Fairfield, ME, in 2009, he taught math for one year at Lawrence High School, retiring at the end of the 2010 school year. He was a member of the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen Association and a communicant of the St. LukeÂ’s Catholic Church in Rangeley, ME. Michael loved fishing, which included trips to Key West, San Diego and Belize, and hunting at the family camp on Indian Pond. He enjoyed cooking with some experience as a professional chef, fly tying, reading – especially books by Maine authors – watching the New England sports teams – including the Patriots and Celtics – and traveling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

He is survived by: his two daughters, Kaitlyn Davis and husband Patrick of Merrimack, NH, Maddie Hahn and husband Tim of Jaffrey, NH; his four granddaughters, Veronika Bolduc and Brady Davis of Merrimack, NH, Skylar Bolduc and Laci Hahn of Jaffrey, NH; his parents, Gerard and Jeanne Bolduc of Fairfield, ME; his two sisters, Anne Marie Bolduc of Auburn, ME, Maria Bolduc and partner Dave Giroux of Waterville, ME; his brother, Roger Bolduc of Farmington, ME; his special friend, Nancy Hilliard of Sandy River Plantation; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Corpus Christi Parish at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver St., Waterville, ME with Father Paul Plante as celebrant.
