David Foster

Of Chelmsford

David Foster, 83, of Chelmsford died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, unexpectedly at Lowell General Hospital.

In 1957, he married the late Marion (Coombs) Foster, to whom he was married for over 48 years until her death in 2006.

Born in Berlin, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Roger L. and H. Beatrice (Appleby) Foster. He graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, ME with the Class of 1948. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.

He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was very proud of serving on the USS FDR as an Aviation Electronic Technician.

He worked as an electrical engineer for the Lincoln Labs of Cape Cod and Waltham before he transferred to the Mitre Corporation of Bedford.

He took great pride in his yard, enjoyed gardening and bird watching. He was known as a lifelong learner, absorbing information everywhere he went. David was a dog owner. He especially loved his dog Ollie.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan K. (Foster) Brown and her husband Ernest of Hudson, NH; a brother, Trafton Foster of FL; two grandchildren, Craig John Brown and his wife Justine A. of Brookline, NH and Christina Dawn (Brown) Brigham and her husband Kevin J., of Brookline, NH; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Andrew Cikota, Ayden Christopher McCrea, Alyssa Taryn Kilgore, Nicklas Wayne Brigham, and Temperance Sylvia Brigham; two nieces, Ann Saporito and Josephine (Miller) Lyon and her husband Robert; and one nephew, Stephen Saporito,

David was predeceased by his sister, the late Helen Saucier of ME.
