Jean ‘John’ Andre Levesque

Apr 15, 2014

Hancock, NH – Jean “John” Andre Levesque, 78, of Hancock, died at his home, on April 10, 2014. John was born in Nashua on August 21, 1935, the son of Jean and Laura (Blier) Levesque.

John was educated in Nashua, served in the US Army 25th Signal Battalion and earned an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Daniel Webster College in 1974. He lived in Hudson before moving to Hancock with his family, where he has lived for the last 28 years. John was employed as a lineman at Public Service of New Hampshire for 34 years and then at Utility Service Assistance for the remainder of his career. He took great pride in his work and loved what he did. He worked tirelessly during power outages and storms to ensure that the people he served would not go without. He respected his fellow linemen and loved the camaraderie of his crews. Further proof of his caring and love of the job was demonstrated when at the age of 72 he traveled in a bucket truck to Alabama to assist people who suffered the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

John’s caring nature stretched past his work. He enjoyed helping family and neighbors and spending time with his pets. He was a wood carver, a carpenter and enjoyed hunting and nature. He had a passion for genealogy and devoted many hours to creating a history of his ancestors for younger generations to enjoy and appreciate.

John is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Dunn) Levesque; and his children and stepchildren, Debra Sottile and her husband Carlo Sottile of Hollis, John Levesque and his wife Pam Levesque of Nashua; Aaron Gould and his wife Silvia Gould of Boulder, CO; Laurie Levesque and her husband Thomas Keith of Kingston; Andrew Levesque and his wife Debra Levesque of Raleigh, NC, Steven Gould and his wife Kristen Burnham of Grand Junction, CO, and Adam Gould of Burlington, VT. He will also be missed by a sister-in-law, Irene (Maynard) Levesque; five beloved grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by his three brothers, Raymond, Paul and Andrew Levesque.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Old Saint Louis Cemetery, 752 West Hollis Street, Nashua. Pastor Beth Boisvert will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in John’s name to the Hancock Fire and Rescue, PO Box 6, Hancock, NH 03449.
