Maureen Caseley

Maureen Caseley, 71, formerly a longtime Hudson and Portsmouth, NH resident passed away on October 31, 2013 of a lengthy illness at Clipper Harbor of Portsmouth.

She was born in Marlborough, MA, on January 14, 1942, the daughter of Donald James Berry and Patricia (Flynn) Berry.

Maureen spent her life caring for others. She was a lunch monitor at Birch Hill Elementary School in Nashua, NH, then a teacher’s aide at Nashua Children’s Home. Along the way, she learned American Sign Language. With this skill she was hired as a special education paraprofessional at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, CA. After returning to New England, she became a House Manager at Great Bay Services for a group home of developmentally disabled adults in Portsmouth, NH, where she remained until health issues caused her to retire in 2010. Generous with her time and money, Maureen donated frequently to numerous charities and was a volunteer aide with Hospice for several years.

Maureen enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of her free time exploring the seacoast. She often took long rides along the coast with friends and family and liked stopping for ice cream along the way. Maureen loved spending time with her family, particularly her two sons. She took an active interest in the activities they pursued and continued to stay involved with her boys throughout her lifetime.

Maureen is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Donald James Berry, Jr. She is survived by her sister Beth Ephlin, ex-husband Clifford D. Caseley, two sons Christopher and Scott, daughter in law Kristen, granddaughter Kyla, nieces Jennifer Rull, Isabella Sykes, and nephews Shaun Knous, Donald James Berry III, Jay Hepburn, David Hepburn, Matthew Hepburn, Jonathan Hepburn, Michael Caseley, and Bill Caseley.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. Friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20036.
