Therese Alice M. Janelle
On October 26, 2013, Therese Alice M. (Viens) Janelle peacefully died at age 92 with her family at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, New Hampshire. Therese, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Eva Rose (Martel) Viens, was born in Pembroke, NH on September 19, 1921. After earning her high school diploma, Therese attended Mount Saint Mary College in Hooksett, NH.
Since 1947, Therese resided in Nashua with her husband, the late former U.S. District Attorney Louis M. Janelle who died on June 30, 1996. On November 4, 1942, Louis and Therese were married at St. John Baptist Parish in Suncook. They were together for 54 years.
Until her last breath, Therese lived her entire life devoted to loving her family unconditionally. As the beloved matriarch and homemaker, she was also a gourmet chef, accomplished pianist, and a master Canasta player. Impossible to describe on paper, Therese was actively involved as a parent, a grandparent to 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition, Therese made time for sewing to make all of her children’s clothes. In her “spare” moments, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Furthermore, she was an active member of Catholic Charities. Finally, as though the above-mentioned was not enough, she found time to serve as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a faithful communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and St. Louis de Gonzague Parish in Nashua, NH.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Gregory S. Barnes; and a daughter-in-law, Francine E. (Boucher) Janelle.
