Margaret O. Liska

Margaret O. Liska, age 99, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Huntington in Nashua, NH. A resident of Nashua for the last eight years she previously resided in South Chatham, Massachusetts on Cape Cod for over 25 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, John H. Liska and a sister, Nancy O. Kimmel. She was a devoted and loving mother of Susan Romanoff of Manhattan, NY, Peter J. Liska, of Middletown, NJ and Nancy L. Doyle of Moody, ME. She was a proud and loving grandmother to John Liska of Long Branch, NJ, Julianne Liska Samuel of Manhattan, NY, Andrew Doyle of Burlington, MA and Adam Doyle of Nashua, NH.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to parents Harry S. Officer and Anna (DeCray) Officer, Mrs. Liska spent her youth in Philadelphia, moving to Newark, NJ to attend Central High School where she graduated in 1930.

Early in her working career and again later, she worked as a secretary, but family was always her main priority. She was a lifelong and accomplished figure skater who continued skating until 80 years of age. Gardening, horticulture and the out of doors were some of Mrs. Liska’s favorite pass times, that she enjoyed on a daily basis. She was an avid reader and continually challenged herself to learn something new.

Mrs. Liska is sadly missed by all who knew her and her wonderful spirit.

A celebration of life memorial was held on August 28, 2013 at the Sky Meadow Country Club.
