Rolf Heinz Dammann

After a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer, Rolf Heinz Dammann, age 79, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Saint Joseph Hospital.

Rolf, the son of Johannes and Eleanore (Neumann) Dammann, was born in Hamburg, Germany on September 14, 1933.  

Rolf immigrated to the United States in 1957 and began his new life in Massachusetts, working first as a Machinist with High Voltage Engineering Company (Burlington) and then a Design Draftsman with Honeywell, Inc. (Waltham). After relocating to Nashua, NH in the early 1970s, Rolf was employed as a Field Services Technician by International Paper Box Machine Company. It was during this 17 year period with International Paper Box that Rolf travelled extensively throughout South America, Europe and the Middle East. Prior to retiring in 2008, Rolf was employed as a Machinist for Can-Am Packaging in Pelham, NH.

An avid canoeist, hiker and New England sports fan, Rolf was never known to shy away from attending an Oktoberfest celebration.

Members of his family include his wife of twelve years, Carol (Garant) Dammann; a son Rolf Dammann, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia; a daughter Julia Dammann of Gainesville, Virginia, a sister, Ursula Chapman of Granite Bay, California; two step sons, Robert and Stephen Ravenelle of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren, Brieanna Bates and Per Holm-Hansen of California and Monika and Paula Dammann of Arlington, Virginia, and one step-granddaughter, Jackie Ravenelle of Brunswick, Maine.
Per Rolf’s request, no funeral services will be held. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Affiliate, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
