Daria C. Hackney

Nashua – Daria Caminati Hackney, 92, of Nashua, formerly of Portsmouth, died Thursday, November 10, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.

She was born in Portsmouth, on December 23, 1918, the daughter of the late Antonio and Laura (Calisesi) Caminati.

Mrs. Hackney was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, class of 1936. She attended Plymouth Business School, Boston. During her working life she worked in the dispensary at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Margeson’s Furniture, the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel and for Dr. Henry J. Robbins.

She was a member of; St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Order of the Eastern Star- former Rivermouth Chapter of Portsmouth, the Women of the Moose and the Portsmouth Hospital Guild. She enjoyed reading, sewing and Italian cooking.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Susan Hackney of Nashua; a granddaughter Stacey Denis her husband Joseph of Nashua; brother and sister-in-law ; John and Helens Hackney; nieces, Cornelia Gray, Nora Blouin and Bettina Colby and Nancy Estes; nephew, Tom Hackney; many friends in Portsmouth and Nashua. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Trouble.

Mrs. Hackney was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Clarence Hackney; brothers, Delofo Caminati and Dante Caminati.

SERVICES: A time of visitation will be on Tuesday, November 15, from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, NH. Funeral services will be held immediately after the visitation at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
